FELLOWSHIP FAQ

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE FELLOWSHIP?

Students in 7th-12th grade (ages 12-18) who live in one of the regions in which the fellowship is available

WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?

Fellows will participate in 12 sessions, each lasting 1.5 hours (Americas & Europe/Africa) or 2 hours (Asia/Australasia), and then will complete their independent project over the course of 2 months which can take as much/little time as they choose. More details about dates are available on the region specific pages.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The fellowship is completely free of charge. If money is required for your initiative, we will assist you in leading your own fundraising campaign.

DO I NEED ANY EXPERIENCE?

No prior knowledge or experience is required to be a fellow. The fellowship is about gaining experience and learning leadership skills.

WHAT IS THE INDEPENDENT INITIATIVE?

The independent initiative is the project that each fellow will complete at the conclusion of the fellowship. It's a chance for you to put all the skills you learned into practice and make a real difference in the world. Examples of initiative ideas are: leading an upcycling workshop, fundraising for an organization and creating a garden in your community.

WILL I RECEIVE HELP ON MY INITIATIVE?

Yes! Each fellow will be assigned a mentor with experience in leadership & environmentalism. You can utilize your mentor as much/little as you choose - they are there to do whatever you need (e.g. help fundraise, discuss ideas, plan logistics).

WHO IS LEADING THE SESSIONS?

ECI Team Members will present at all sessions, and we will also bring on guest speakers to help with the delivery of the sessions and give you a better depth of knowledge.

WHAT PLATFORM WILL BE USED?

Zoom will be used for sessions, and Slack (a messaging app) will be used for day-to-day communications.

WHEN IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE?

There is no deadline - you can apply at any time and will be automatically accepted into the next fellowship round.
